Preventing disasters

Is the ideology of global warming standing in the way of fire and flood prevention? I think so.
The nattering nabobs in the mainstream media would have you believe every dire weather event is somehow the result of human-caused “climate change”, even though it’s clear the climate has changed naturally throughout history.
What the professional virtue-signalers are saying is that the actions of modern humans are speeding up the rate of that change. But they don’t really know by how much. They just predict there will be a climate Armageddon at some point.
Whether they are right, only time will tell. Let's just say that history hasn’t been kind to doomsayers.
In the meantime, what we need are fewer clannish, ivory-tower “experts” making catastrophic, computerized predictions, and more practical, independent-minded folks experienced in preventing and/or mitigating the impact of wildfires, floods and other natural disasters.
Sure, until recently, British Columbia has had a fast-rising population that has needed to be housed. But building homes right up against tinder-dry forests or on known flood zones simply won’t cut it any more.
We need to plan and execute land use better … from the ground up.
