British-born Jon Ferry is retired journalist who has worked for outfits as diverse as Reuters news agency, The Toronto Globe and Mail, and The Vancouver Province. He used to be a widely-traveled reporter, editor, and columnist. He now writes opinion pieces, poems and works of fiction about everything from trees that can communicate with each other to humans who can't. His best job ever, he says, was as a ranch wrangler in the mountains of northwest Wyoming. It was there he learned that people can be tougher to handle than even the rankest of horses.
