Given all the stresses of life,
we all need some kind of bolthole
where we can still our jangling nerves
and defuse any nagging strife.
It might just be your motor car
parked discreetly in the driveway
where you could block any home noise
and let your dreaming mind wander.
Or it might be a secret spot,
reached through a hidden panel door,
that was set up as a reading nook …
or room with a snug sleeping cot.
Called a hidey-hole or cubbyhole,
it’d be a kids-free, judgment-less zone
for you to de-stress, chill out and
try to reclaim your adult soul.
But the finest bolthole of all,
I think you’ll agree, remains your mind.
Control that, and you will find peace …
and reduce your cholesterol.
